| Customer Reviews: expected grey handles, recieved black handles July 28, 2010 John Blaze im not a knife expert, but i knew from a past purchase (m16-sf model) that CRKT makes great products, and i knew i wanted only one carson flipper (instead of two that comes one the sf model). if you dont know, the carson flipper is the part you pull with your index finger to deploy the blade. when opened, the flipper is on the 'bottom' (sharp side) of the knife. its a slick setup and makes for a speedy deployment. couple that, with the auto LAWKS, and you have what i consider my new edc (every day carry) blade. ive heard others say they dont like the auto-LAWKS for whatever reason. i like it. its secure, rigid, and makes the knife system a bit more safe, i.e. it wont close automatically. the blade stays closed VERY well, it wont open in your pocket or whatever. the weight is reasonable for a full size folder. my only beef is with the photo at the top of this page (unless it changes after i wrote this). in the photo, it appears to have a greyish handle, which compliments the greyish blade coating (almost like a two-tone). so i was like, "cool, not another black knife". bought it. comes in the mail, i open the box. black handle... huh? could have been a fubar when they pulled the item from a shelf, could be the wrong photo, could be a mix-up with the part numbers.... who knows. but it does read "M16-03Z" on the blade. im not gonna send it back, ill rock it the way it is, or mabey ill send it the Nutnfancy to duracoat for me, and while im at it have Fitzen reprofile the blade. on second thought the blade is plenty sharp. product 5 out of 5. just make sure the color

I own several knives and the Columbia River M16-03Z is the knife I carry every day. It is very sharp, opens easily, isn't heavy and has a tight double lock. It's a great knife for the price.
Great knife design. January 22, 2009 MVMike (Boston, MA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had this knife for over seven years now, and I can say this is a great knife. The m16 has stood up to many camping trips where it was banged around a bit and always came back for more. It is lightweight, opens quickly with one hand, and the blade locks securely open. It is comfortable in my hand and i think it looks cool too.
The only thing I would change on this knife would be the blade steel. I don't think aus4 is adequate steel here. It does not hold an edge very well and i have difficulty sharpening it. There are other m16 models with better steel, and I plan on getting one with aus8 or something close to it soon. Also the holes in the handle collect lint and dirt and need to be cleaned once in awhile.
