This is the first time I have used this brand and I am very satified with the product.
Helps Control Appetite in a Natural Way April 28, 2009 Dr. Jane Branam (Charlotte NC) Someone in a diet group mentioned this as a way to cut hunger, so I tried it. If I am on a low calorie diet, I have to take it more than once a day. It does seem to help and is a natural product. I feel like it is a good dieting tool and decreases my hunger. Power Path to Love
Scam product March 1, 2009 rfjason 4 out of 11 found this review helpful
This supplement contains vitamin B6. When 5-HTP and B6 mix in the liver, they form serotonin. Good, right? Wrong! Serotonin in the bloodstream cannot pass the blood brain barrier. Only 5-HTP by itself can do this. Vitamin B6 is the LAST thing you want in a 5-HTP supplement. Further, high levels of serotonin in your bloodstream instead of your brain leads to diarrhea, flushing, and heart failure!
Stay away from this, and all supplements that include B6 with 5-HTP.
Yay, Nature's Way! January 8, 2009 HealthyGirl (Chicago) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have tried other brands, including a timed-release 5-HTP, but personally found I respond much better to the Nature's Way brand. For me, it seems to be more effective~ I feel it quicker & take to it much better than other brands.
The price here so far is the very best I've found, and since I take quite a few pills ea. day, that's a good thing!
My only request is that the company create their own timed-release 5-HTP, and in 100mg caplets... That would be perfect.
I did read where Vitamin B6 was important to convert the 5-HTP to Serotonin, and Nature's Way has thought of that & made it one-stop-shopping. Can't beat that!
I did, in the beginning, start out with a very small dose & increased it until I felt it was the best for me.
Of course, I believe that if your body does not need it, the product will not benefit you. But if it does, it can Literally be a Life Saver.
Mellows Us Out October 2, 2008 At the Lounge (Way Down South) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
My son has autism, and we are both on this. It mellows us out, and I don't notice any of the side effects people have mentioned (such as more vivid dreams). It did make me tired as rip the first two weeks or so, but now I'm just mellow, and that's good.
